Acupuncture - A Traditional Chinese Medicine with
Safe, Natural, Drug-Free and Effective
Acupuncture is practiced in China for about 4,000 years and
its goal is to balance the body energy. This allows a smooth
flow of energy of the person and promote a natural ability for
everyone to achieve a cure or a remarkable decrease of the
health problem, such as pain, stress, or other illnesses.
Acupuncture uses fine, slender one-time use disposable needles to stimulate areas along specific
channels of the body. There are over 360 specific points, or “acupoints”, located on our body. Each
acupuncture point elicits a different response to our nervous system, endocrine system, hormonal
system, and vascular system. In this manner, it can re-program any malfunctioning organ or cell
signalling system.

Chinese medicine has an interesting explanation as to how and why illness occurs. Qi (pronounced
chee ) or vital energy flows in our body through a network of meridians, like a highway system.
Injury, congestion, or just plain stress can interrupt the smooth flow of energy throughout the body,
creating a ‘traffic jam’. In a highway system, when there is road construction or an accident, traffic
may also be backed up on secondary roads that feed into or out of the affected area. This is true in
the body, too. Stress, or any disruption in the flow of energy, can affect many processes of the body
for example digestion, the ability to sleep and the immune system. Acupuncture helps to clear
blockages (traffic jams) in the flow of energy, enabling our natural healing processes to function
effectively.

There are specific relationships between acupuncture points on the body and the organs or bodily
functions. It is through the introduction of fine disposable needles on these points that the energy is
balanced, leading to the proper functioning of the body. These needles do not inject or contain any
products. The method by which this is accomplished, though it may seem strange and mysterious to
many, has withstood the test of time and continues to be validated today.

Acupuncture is an excellent concomitant therapy and/or alternative to conventional Western
medicine and promotes a whole understanding of the problems of the patient, taking it as a whole
and not as a set of unrelated symptoms.

The needles your acupuncturist uses on you are one-time use disposable needles and have never been used on other patients. This means there is a virtually no chance you will contract
a disease from receiving acupuncture and because the needles are made of very thin and flexible surgical grade stainless steel means less pain.
